A business grow organically means that the company is using internal funds to expand the business, rather than purchasing another business or other partner-sharing business. An example of organic growth will be increasing capital using own money. Below are some advantages of organic growth: 1. Organization strategic goals can be achieved Through organic growth, the management team are able to guide and lead the business according and in-line with the strategic goals of the company. For example Regulate the organization and management. Chaotic most of the organizational structure of the commercial enterprise, for example, is responsible for market planning and responsible for sales to the same person, and even the accountant and cashier is a person. There is a superior-subordinate reporting relationship is not clear, the employees do not know which department they belong, do not know their own boss, cross management of severe and so, it would not affect the efficiency of the organization, do not know their respective duties or tilt energy affect efficiency, seriously affect the companys next phase of development. No crashes in culture There will be no culture clashings as the company employees are all either hired from the start of the business or being transfered to the newly setup business. the culture and norms of the business will be maintained. For example:Harvard University experts found that environment, lack of motivation, the potential for employees only play 20% to 30% and may even cause the opposite effect; appropriate incentive environment, the same staff was able to play to their potential.80% to 90%. If you disagree or feel taken for granted by the staff of the distribution system, then you have the distribution system must be failed; while failing to achieve the allocation of the incentive effects for enterprises, is a great damage. 3. Cheaper compared to acquisitions very often when a company buys another business. theyll need to pay a premium, and that premium itself can sometimes wipe out the whole value of the acquisitions rather than increasing shareholders value. For example The worlds largest food company Nestle Group in Shanghai on October 18 released three quarterly. Despite the global economic downturn, Nestle remains optimistic about the performance of the first three quarters of this year, the Nestle Group the first three quarters of the total sales growth of 11% to 67.6 billion Swiss francs. British Sky Broadcasting to achieve this goal earlier than expected, which is a key reason why, despite the recent economic downturn, they are still able to enjoy the continued growth of revenue and profits. However, the organic growth story in the British Sky Broadcasting is about more than simply adding a lot of new users. The business is able to increase its services to the average spent by each user household. A Womans Place in Fantasia and So Long a Letter Essay -- Fantasia So
A Woman's Place in Fantasia and So Long a Letter Throughout history women have always had to stand behind their men (whether it be rules, tradition, etc.). In almost every history context, whether it about wars or people, they have almost been written by men for men. It is not even until this century that women in this country have gained new grounds for the equality that we hope will be as substantial with menââ¬â¢s equality. Despite womenââ¬â¢s hopes for equality, there is always old traditions that are so hard to be break that they sometimes keep women in inferior positions. In these two novels, Fantasia and So Long a Letter ,we will explore how the women in these novels deal with modernity and the ways in which it conflicts with some of the traditions of their society. In So Long a Letter, the main character of the novel, Ramatoulaye is coming to grips of the hardships placed upon her when her husband takes on a second wife. In Ramatoulayeââ¬â¢s case, we see her conflicting emotions for she considers herself a feminist modern woman, however she is still somewhat submissive to the ways of tradition. She ponders on the alternatives, yet she comes to one conclusion, to stay with her husband. Her marriage paralleled that of her good friendââ¬â¢s Aissatou, however Aissatou was able to forge ahead with a new life that did not involve polygamy. Armed with her education and her strong will, Aissatou did not let tradition or fear sustain her in a relationship that she deemed degrading. Aissatou is the embodiment of all the hopes that Ramatoulaye and Aissatou had when they were young, to become strong independent women who would hold their heads up high in times of hardship. Ramatoulaye is envious of her friend Aissatou who is able to cut ... ...y had to, for they needed to recruit the help of all Algerian to help them in their cause. However, as time passes these freedoms are revoked. The women are left veiled once again and domesticated to the indoor. Weââ¬â¢re able to see that Cherifaââ¬â¢s freedom as a fighter has changed. As the Revolution has ended, she is no longer able to run around freely as a man. In old age ââ¬Å"[Cherifa] is housebound, As she sets her voice free, she sets herself free again; what nostalgia will cause her voice to fail presentlyâ⬠. Through these two novels, weââ¬â¢re able to see the quandaries that women must face when modernity and old customs come head to head. Both of these women remain brave and to try to sustain their new found freedoms, despite any difficult encounters. It is these women with their fierce ideals that would make them pioneers for all women liberation movements.

Harley-Davidson Marketing Strategies Essay
In 1903, 21-year old William S. Harley and 20-year old Arthur Davidson the first production Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was hand-built in a small garage in Milwaukee. Today, Harley-Davidson, Inc. employs more than 8,200 people and has 1,110 dealership worldwide. Its corporate headquarters are still located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The domestic production facilities are in the Milwaukee area, East Troy and Tomahawk, Wisconsin; York, Pennsylvania; and Kansas City, Missouri. Design, customer focus and sales have placed this company is in a very unique and desirable marketing situation. Design is critical to the continued success of this company. For some companies, the word design may bring thoughts of sweeping changes and new model lines. However, for the design team at Harley-Davidson, it inspires thoughts of being faithful to the classic lines and sounds of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. This is not to say that the designers are not allowed and encouraged to improve on the hugely successful line of motorcycles, just the opposite is true. Ken Schmidt, director of communications for Harley-Davidson, stated that: ââ¬Å"We are constantly improving and modernizing the machine, yet not every component. That is what our customers want, and thatââ¬â¢s also, I believe, what sparks the strong emotional attachments that Harleys generate.â⬠In the early 1980ââ¬â¢s, the company was plagued with quality control and reliability issues that nearly caused the company to go out of business. At this point, it was up to the design and quality control engineers to revamp the mechanical and electrical portions while staying true to the classic line of the motorcycle. They succeeded in resolving the problems and saved the company. William G. Davidson, who heads up a team of five product designers, is quick to add, ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s important to understand that weââ¬â¢re not in the business of making antiques. Every year we make further improvements to our engines and chassis. But from a styling standpoint, we have to incorporate improvements without compromising `the look.ââ¬â¢ If we move a bolt or re-route one hose, our customers take note and call us on it. A Harley isnââ¬â¢t shrouded in fiberglass like so many other bikes. Everything we do is right out in the open.â⬠This mindset prevents lifelong riders from feelingà alienated and accusing the company of ââ¬Å"selling outâ⬠in the pursuit of increased revenue and profits. Harley-Davidson understands that it is as important to maintain their current enthusiasts as it is to develop new ones. No where is this more evident than in their mission statement: ââ¬Å"We fulfill dreams through the experience of motorcycling, by providing to motorcyclists and to the general public an expanding line of motorcycles and branded products and services in selected market segments.â⬠Customer focus is another area of marketing where this company excels. Factory sponsored rallies and test drives are just two ways that Harley stays in touch with their customers. The largest sponsored rally occurs each year at Sturgis in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This event draws 400,000 riders from around the world. There are hundreds of company employees there as well, not only to enjoy the rally, but also to gather information from the enthusiasts. There is no better or more efficient way to survey your customers than to speak with them directly after they just traveled to an event on your product. This ââ¬Å"close-to-the-customerâ⬠philosophy allows the company to use these rallies as product development centers. It allows the company leadership to get instant responses on both current products as well as new products that may soon go into production. Customers respond positively to this type of product survey, because they feel like their opinion matters and will influence the next yearââ¬â¢s product line. Another marketing tool that has been quite successful for this company has been the factory-sponsored test-drives. The factory sends a tractor-trailer filled with demo bikes to each dealership that is willing to participate. All of the new models are available and anyone with a helmet and a valid license to operate a motorcycle can try them out. For many of the dealerships, it is the busiest day of the year. Harley-Davidson headquarters employs eight merchandising specialists that develop ââ¬Å"designer storesâ⬠. These stores are much different from the standard ââ¬Å"garage-typeâ⬠store of the past. These stores are designed to draw customers in, surround them with motorcycles, and provide an inviting retail environment. Dealerships that have converted their shops to the Designer Store concept have seen soaring revenues and rapid return on investments.à Inventive marketing strategies have kept Harley-Davidson as the leader of Americaââ¬â¢s big-bike market. It is not just the motorcycles that are in high demand. Harley has developed a very profitable retail merchandising line. This line includes clothing, tattoo patches, coffee mugs, belt buckles, infant wear and memorabilia. Most would think that this company must spend a significant portion of their revenue on advertising. The opposite is true, in 1995 the company generated $1.3 billion in revenue while spending less than $2 million on advertising costs. ââ¬Å"Word of mouthâ⬠is their main form of advertising. Company executives feel that their customers are their sales force, after all, satisfied customers are the better than advertising. Harley-Davidson is in a unique marketing situation because they are not selling transportation; they are selling a lifestyle. Customers routinely wait between six and eighteen months for delivery of a new model. That type of product loyalty is hard to find and not easily developed. The waiting list for a new Harley-Davidson is now more than a year, and used bikes are more expensive today than when they were new. How can this possibly be true when new cars depreciate quicker than you can make the payment? The reason is the supply-to-demand ratio and Harley-Davidson has mastered this ratio. Although they produced more than 300,000 bikes last year, demand is still on their side. Many new customers look at purchasing a Harley as an investment that you can enjoy on a daily basis. The first turning point for the company was when they changed the engines back in 1984. The second was when the ââ¬Å"baby boomersâ⬠hit their mid-life crisis. Since then, dealers have struggled to keep display models on the floor. Scarcity allows the company to achieve higher profitability, and it also helps protect the investment for previous buyers. Women are the last great frontier for this company and they are beginning to focus more on that segment of the market. They have begun to place advertisements in womenââ¬â¢s magazines in an attempt to change the companyââ¬â¢s image to a more family-oriented one. They have also begun to make engineering changes to some of the models. Some of the new bikes will haveà smaller handlebar grips, an easier pulling clutch, and lower seats. ââ¬Å"Riders Edgeâ⬠is a program at Harley dealerships providing ridersââ¬â¢ education classes to help novices learn to ride and get licensed. Technology upgrades such as liquid-cooled, high-powered, engines and lightweight materials will make bikes more powerful, but also less difficult to handle. All of these changes are being implemented to encourage women to purchase their own bikes as opposed to simply being passengers. Customers can sense that the Harley-Davidson employees care about them and their concerns. The company takes this responsibility so seriously that they developed a list of ââ¬Å"core valuesâ⬠. These are their values. They are the heart of how we run their business. They guide their actions and serve as the framework for the decisions and contributions their employees make at every level of the company. Tell the truth, be fair, keep your promises, respect the individual, and encourage intellectual curiosity. Because of their supply-and-demand ratio, it would be very easy for this company to develop a ââ¬Å"take it or leave itâ⬠attitude with their customers. A large part of the success has to be attributed to the high-value they place on the opinion of their customers.

Parkinsonââ¬â¢s Disease and Medical Treatment Options Essay
Parkinsonââ¬â¢s Disease and Medical Treatment Options For many 50 year olds, tasks such as writing or walking can be easily preformed without much attention. In fact, the term ââ¬Å"taskâ⬠seems to stress that there is a greater level of effort than is truly exerted in order for the average person to perform these actions. However, for a patient of Parkinsonââ¬â¢s Disease who is diagnosed on average at the age of 50, these every day activities take a great deal of time, attention, and effort to be preformed (Huston). With the growth of research about this disease, a variety of treatment options ranging from medication to surgery are currently available to patients who suffer from the debilitating effects of Parkinsonââ¬â¢s Disease. Parkinsonââ¬â¢sâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Parkinsonââ¬â¢s patients also suffer from difficulties associated with speech, spontaneous movements, gait, and cognitive processing. Johnson et. al (2004) studied these cognitive processing deficits to determine whether they were a result of motor impairment or a cognitive processing impairment within itself. Through two trials of testing, once with patients who were medicated for motor impairment and a second time with unmedicated patients, both compared to non-Parkinson participants of similar age groups, Johnson et. al found that both medicated and unmedicated Parkinsonââ¬â¢s patients scored lower in the testing than the non-Parkinsonââ¬â¢s patients. Therefore, it was determined that the cognitive processing impairment is separate from the typical motor impairment associated with the disease. Diagnosis of Parkinsonââ¬â¢s is based solely on clinical evaluation and observation rather than blood and laboratory testing. If a patient displays two of the three primary symptoms, he may be diagnosed with and placed on medication for Parkinsonââ¬â¢s Disease. If the medication improves these symptoms, the diagnosis of Parkinsonââ¬â¢s is then confirmed (American Parkinson Disease Association, 2004; National Parkinson Foundation, 1999). The cause of the degeneration of cells within the substantia nigra is unknown and therefore no cure exists for the disease. Annie Proulx Essay - 719 Words
Academic essay on Annie Proulxs Job Story Choices are something we all make. Not necessarily important choices, but there will always be a time to make them. Its not always good choices, but they have to be made. There will always be consequences, whether its bad or good. Throughout the story, Leeland Lee has to make a lot of choices. Where to live, where to work and when to work. All the different choices he made, put him in the position he is now. Leeland Lee is an awkward-looking young boy. His face is heavily boned, which he has gotten from his mom, his neck is quite thick and he has red-gold hair. His eyes are as pouchy as a middle-aged alcoholic. His nose is broad and lays close to his face. Lori Bovee is Leeland Leesâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This story doesnt have any of those, its practically the same throughout the story, talking about where they move etc. The story starts ab ovo as the text starts from when he is born. That way we get more information about how he has lived and how he is living. Ab ovo is latin and means the origin, or the beginning. It means that the story starts from square one, telling how the character is and how he has gotten to where he is now. I would say it is a third-person non-obstructive narrator. The reason I believe that the author is third-person is because she refers to Leeland Lee as he or him. The author is omniscient because she knows almost everything that is going on, except for the future. She knows whats happening with the weather, the news and Leeland, and the story revolves around Leeland Lee. His conflicts that come from the outside is economic issues and work-related issues, seeing as when he gets a job he cant keep it.s The way I interpreted the story, the themes are choices and what the consequences or advantages of those choices are. He keeps choosing to go from one job to another, and one state to another etc. and we later find out that it was either smart or dumb. It starts out with an introduction telling us when he is born, who he is and what he looks like. The author then presents us to his soon to be wife and his family. Then the elaboration, where we find out what he has been doing. MovingShow MoreRelatedBiography of Annie Prolux 993 Words à |à 4 PagesAnnie Prolux is an author of eight books. Roman Pantomime Essay Example For Students
Roman Pantomime Essay In assessment of the origins and nature of pantomime in ancient Rome, one will clearly see that the latter two factors are wide and varied. This is due to the collaborative nature of the art as a whole. With a close examination of archaeological, textual and representational evidence one will gain a precise understanding of how the origins, nature and type of audience of the pantomime are interrelated. One will additionally gain inisight into the widespread popularity of pantomime despite a general dislike towards drama in ancient Rome. Before one can begin to consider the origins of Roman pantomime, one must have a clear understanding of the nature of pantomime. This is due to the fact that the nature of the art is in most cases, directly related to its origins. Once the nature of the art has been established, one will clearly see the connection between the latter and its origins. The term pantomime, which was, introduced by the Italian Greeks referrs to the actor. The mimer of everything. The pantomime was considered a solo performer who wore a mask, and expressed himself through dance, but did not sing. Rather, a musical group or chorus accompanied the pantomime. This type of performance is usually likened to a ballet enactment with a mythical theme. The pantomime usually tended to appeal to higher tastes with its mythical themes but as Grimal implies, could also be comic and erotic. In his discussion of pantomime, Lucian of Samosata (ca. 125 180) notes that the pantomime represents the orator and the composer of d eclamations. Lucian claims that the success of the pantomime depends upon his skillful adadptation of language to character. It is considered that the pantomime had incredible versitality to show forth human character and passion in all their varieties. These qualities of the pantomime were praised by Lesbonax of Mytilene who called pantomimes manual philosophers. Futher evidence of the versatility of the pantomime in showing emotion and character can be seen in the words of Timocrates:I know not what truth there may be in Platos analysis of the soul into the three elements of spirit, appetite and reason: but each of the three is admirablyillustrated by the pantomime; he shows us the angry man, he shows us the lover, and he shows us every passion under the control of reason The pantomime was not only skillful in portraying human character, but additionally in embracing many other skills into a single embodiment. For instance, the pantomime used both bodily skills such as versatilit y of movement and mental skills where every movement and gesture has meaning and significance. Creating meaning through movement and gesture was significantly important because the pantomime wore mask, which took away any opportunity for showing emotion through facial expression. In consolation, a good pantomime would talk with his hands (cheironomy) and the rest of his body to show emotions and different character types.Overall, is clear that agility and ease of movement were very necessary skills for a sucessful pantomime. The pantomime additionally had to take on several roles in the one performance using little or no costumes. A mantle was the typical costume, which could be used to imply many different items throughout the performance. An example of the extrordinary versitlity of the pantomime is given by Suetonius: As pantomimes, when they dance clad in their mantles, with one and the same mantle represent a swans tail, the tresses of Venus, a Furys scourge Pantomime was a very unique type of performance in that it served a double purpose. Unlike some types of drama that served to be a pleasurable experience or a utilitarian one, the art of pantomime held out objects of both pleasure and utility. This is evidenced through Lucians comments on the art:It sharpens the wits, it excercises the body, it delights the spectator, it instructs him in the history of bygone days, while the eye and ear are held beaneath the spell of flute and cymbal and of graceful danceNowhere can you procure that enjoyment in greater variety and perfection. That said, it is implicitly clear that although pantomime did not always offer a realistic performance experience it was unique because .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 , .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 .postImageUrl , .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 , .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151:hover , .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151:visited , .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151:active { border:0!important; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151:active , .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151 .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ue0b11f061b9d0d6527e683f4a2559151:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Who is the person whom affected Essay
